How Safe Are COX-2 Inhibitors in NSAID-sensitive Subjects with Cutaneous Reactions?

Methods/Data base: A review of the literature. Results/Conclusions: Among drugs presently being used the most selective inhibitors of COX-2, such as the coxibs Rofe-coxib and Celecoxib appear to be safe alternative medications for those subjects who experience aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease or the cutaneous reactions of urticaria or an-gioedema. These observations lend support to the concept that above mentioned adverse reactions to NSAIDs are mediated through inhibition of COX-1. Allergy Clin Immunol
