However as the Nomadic Network is still a new service in active development there are more such periods than we would like so Nomadic is currently less reliable than other facilities offered by Information Services. It is extremely useful in conjunction with other forms of Internet access but should not be relied upon as the only form of access. • What alternatives are available? On campus, you can use public computer facilities in libraries and computer rooms to connect to the Internet. At home you can use your ordinary ISP and still connect to various University facilities even without the nomadic service. • For access to interactive systems and secure file transfer you can use SSH Secure Shell provided your server supports SSH (most unix servers do).
