How reliable is a water-resistant sunscreen product?
We test water resistance in accordance with the guidelines established by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration USA). The protective product is applied on the backs of test subjects who then spend two 20-minute sessions in a Jacuzzi. After this time, the applied product must indicate a minimum of 50% of the original protection level. For very water-resistant products, this protection performance must still be active after four 20-minute sessions in the Jacuzzi. Long-lasting is tested after six 20 minute sessions. Water-resistant sunscreen products are designed to protect the skin particularly while in the water. We recommend that you put on more sunscreen after swimming or towelling.
