How reliable is a 14 week ultrasound to determine gender?
14 weeks is generally too early to reliably determine gender. Sometimes it’s possible, but a lot of it has to do with how the baby is positioned and whether it’s moving. If your tech wasn’t sure, then appreciate her honesty and check again at 18-20 weeks. For some basic information on the physiological developments that are happening, see http://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/HowTheBody…
my first ultrasound was at 13 weeks and 5 days. It was a very thourough screening and we were not able to tell even with a 4d scan. My sister in-law just had hers at 18 weeks and her baby kept its legs closed firm. My friend ate a snickers before her 22 weeks ultrasound and she said her baby moved around so much and was spreading her legs and bouncing so they got a good clear view. Next time eat a sugary snack a little before. If you get anothe boy don’t worry, there is a new process you can do to ensure you have a girl. ask your doc about gender selection.
