How realistic is it going to be in terms of weapon damage and bullet physics?

Chris: We’ve actually done a ton of ballistics stuff with the weapons. We do per-pixel accurate collision detection with the bullets so we don’t just do rough checks with the body – for example could accurately shoot someone between the legs if you wanted too and you won’t hit them at all. Every bullet is checked on every type of material, like say marble or wood, we do fall-off and distance on the bullets, so if the bullet is going over 100m it’s not going to do a lot of damage but if you’re right in front of the target it’s going to do a lot more. We do multiple material types so if I shoot with the AW .50 sniper rifle – which is the biggest gun in the game as it’s 5 feet long – through a wall, I can see the bullet penetrate through at least three walls in a building. (The AW .50 isn’t meant to be shot at humans, it’s meant to be used for taking out vehicles). We’ve also got accurate bullet penetration physics on the player models too, so if you shoot somebody, say with the AW .50 sn
