how quickly does it progress, on average?
Unfortunately there is no cure for dry macular degeneration. The best recommendations for preventing or slowing its progression are the following: • Maintain a healthy diet that includes lots of dark leafy vegetables • Take a multi-vitamin formulated specifically for patients with dry macular degeneration (talk with your physician or eye specialist to see if this may be a good choice for you) • Exercise regularly • Don’t smoke • Protect your eyes from sunlight by wearing UV protection. Macular degeneration is the most common eye condition affecting the aging population. It is impossible to predict precisely the age and/or rate at which dry macular degeneration progresses to wet macular degeneration, as these factors vary from patient to patient. In fact, not all patients with dry macular degeneration progress to the wet form.
