How quickly do AM puppies grow?
They grow so quickly that some days, you swear that they look bigger every other hour! Most puppies seem to average three to six pounds growth per week, from week six through week 40. My AM was 14 pounds at week six, approximately 100 pounds at half-a-year, and approximately 145 pounds at 40 weeks. After the first year, their rate of growth begins to slow down. Most AMs mature slowly and will continue to fill-out and gain weight until turning four-years-old. Because they grow so rapidly, owners must be careful with puppy AMs, and avoid playing too roughly. Excessive jumping or leaping by puppy AMs can damage their tender limbs.
