How private is information in a CIS Portfolio?

0

CIS users determine (possibly with their instructor’s/counselor’s direction) what level of privacy they want for their CIS Portfolio. In the current version of eCIS, when a user logs in with their Portfolio user name and password for the first time, they are required to check whether it is “OK for faculty and staff in the organization that provided CIS to access my portfolio”, or whether they “do not want anybody to access my portfolio.” If the user chooses to allow faculty or staff access, it means that their personal user name and password is retrievable by staff at their site, and that staff members (e.g. teachers, counselors) may log into their portfolio to make notes, see the user’s notes, or could just find out the user’s login name and password if they are forgotten. If the user chooses to NOT give anyone access their portfolio, teachers/staff at the site can still view what information titles have been saved or exploration tools have been completed by the user, but they cannot
