How prevalent is the Jewish priest-hood?

I’m guessing you are making a joke about circumcision but first ….. I have to correct ORGANBUILDER – Rabbis are not priests, they are teachers. The priestly caste or tribe are the Cohanim (Cohens), descended from Aaron, the priestly status being passed from father to son. However, since the second Temple (not to be confused with what the Americans call temple, i.e. synagogue) was destroyed nearly 2000 years ago and has not been established again, the Cohanim have taken a much lesser role where duties are concerned yet they retain a special status in the congregation. Anyway, back to circumcision … much more aesthetic, in my humble opinion, and still very prevalent. P.S. Jewish circumcision is NOT the same as Muslim circumcision.
