how President Bush finds it important to invite Sanjaya to the White House??!!!?
Much has been made of Sanjaya’s presence at last weekend’s White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner. But the President has no control over the guest list at this dinner because he is only a guest. The White House Correspondent’s Association holds an annual fundraising dinner. For years, Presidents have been invited to attend the dinner and participate in the light-hearted antics. Often, they have delivered speeches mocking themselves (perhaps the funniest was the video presentation Clinton presented during his last year in the White House where he depicted himself as having nothing to do and no one to talk to because Hilllary was running for the Senate). But Presidents attend by invitation. Various media outlets purchase tables to support the fundraising dinner, and they may invite whomever they like to attend as their guests.
