How powerful is the killer instinct when in a life threatening situation?
I agree with Mike about the “Amygdala” part of the brain (which is the “fight or flight” part of the brain completely takes over and becomes almost automatic action to find any way to get out of a situation (kind of like a temporary Medulla-Oblongata working together with the Amygdala (an almond-shaped small part of the brain). Althoughhhhhhhhhhhhhh, some people simply freeze and can’t move when the fear is so high – it’s like a disassociative thing -the fear is so high that your brain can’t even fathom or deal with it, so some people disassociate. I disassociate and know what the beginning feels like (for me, it’s rocking, sometimes start making noises), and how scared or confused I am when coming out of it. If a person disassociates during a traumatic event and they do not deal with it right away, they may very well end up with PTSD later in life (I have PTSD, too) from the traumatic event.
