How politcal systems relate to subsistence strategies?
Political systems in subsistence societies tend to be less stratified; as in, they tend to have most people at the same status as everyone else. If everyone is busy getting enough food together, you can’t really have people dedicating themselves exclusively to other activities like being artisans or architects or bureaucrats. Once societies start getting surpluses of food, their social structures tend to become less egalitarian.
