How painful is a hip tattoo?
The small size definitely decreases the pain (not because the tattoo itself will be less painful, but because there’s less area to cover). The pain you experience is probably going to depend on how fleshy your hips are – the bonier, the more painful. The thicker the layer of skin and fat between the needle and your hip bone, the more bearable it would be. Hips tend to be sensitive; the pain is most likely going to be around a 6, but you can handle it. It’s really not so bad and it’ll be over quickly. EDIT// Just read that you wanted your tattoo to be a bit further from the bone. In that case the pain will be more like a 4 or 5.
