How ostentatious and extravagance or lavish spending weddings affecting the indian society?
Well, basically, it is bankrupting the average Indian. Because people don’t want to lose face by having smaller, cheaper weddings, they continue to go bigger and better (to impress people mainly) and to show that they can afford it, while most of them can’t…. They take these HUGE loans which cripples them financially for years….It’s all very sad, and puts a HUGE strain on the lives of ordinary people. In India there is a pressure to conform, even if you don’t have the financial means, you have to SHOW that you have. This means a lot of borrowing, from whoever can loan the money….
