HOW ON-LINE WEATHER STUDIES WILL ENHANCE THE GEOSCIENCES AT TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL UNIVERISTY (LAREDO, TX)?

Tobin, Texas A&M International University, Laredo, TX Currently, there is a minor in earth sciences at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), which was established in August 2002, whose instruction is facilitated by two tenure-track faculty. In the past two years a complete set of lower-division earth science courses has been established and implemented (Physical Geology, Environmental Geology, and Earth Materials) in addition to the long standing Survey of Earth Science. Fall 2003 marks a milestone for the earth sciences at TAMIU as we will offer our first upper-division undergraduate course (Geohydrology). During Spring 2004 we plan on offering an Atmospheric Science course. Resources and materials from the AMS on-line weather studies will enhance instruction of both our Survey of Earth Science and Atmospheric Science courses.
