How old should a puppy be before it is weaned?
I offer finger food at 2-3 weeks. I mix puppy formula and baby rice cereal and let pups lick it off my fingers. At 3 weeks old i feed them 3 times a day with the same formula cereal mixture and let then lick it out of a cookie sheet or low pie plate. At 4 weeks i feed 4 times a day i start adding watered down hard food or canned food. to the cereal/formula mixture. At 5 weeks old i feed 6 times perday watered down hard food And cover mom up with her heat pants and a t-shirt so pups can no longer nurse and dry up. At 6 weeks i feed watered down hard food but don’t let it soften up before pupping it in. I put it in with the right after i add the water. At 7 weeks old i no longer add water to the food and cut the feedings down to 4 times a day with a big bowl of food left in with them over night so they don’t get hungrey. Make sure that you still let mom in with her pups after weaning since she has alot of things to teach them.
