How old should a child be to read stories by E nesbit?
I haven’t read The Enchanted Castle, but thanks for the tip will look out for it, I have always regarded E. Nesbit as being a very ‘safe’ author when it comes to fantasy and imagination because she understood about being ‘grounded’ so that whatever strange adventures the children have they then sit down by the fire with tea and buns and get back to normality for a while till the next one. I think the main issue is more about when your daughter can understand how historic they are and that they come from another culture and another age. I don’t think they’re frightening but the children in them who take the lead are fairly mature, 9 plus, so I think it is probably better to wait till she is about 7 to 9 to get the maximum enjoyment out of them.
