How old should a child be to learn to play the trumpet?
Nope! If he wants to learn how to play, he’s old enough to learn. But before you invest in an actual trumpet, buy a trumpet mouth piece from a music store and tell him he has to build up his “lip” for playing the trumpet before he can play. Have him try to hit low and high notes through the mouth piece by tightening and loosening his lips. If he can master that, he’s ready to attach the mouth piece to a real trumpet and learn the scale!
