How old is the normal life span of dogs?
The life span of a dog depends on various things. The average life span is between 8-12 years-old. However this varies depending on the breed of the dog, the genetics and overall care the dog receives during their life time. Some dog breeds tend to live longer than others. This is based on the physical traits of each dog, such as body length, size and shape. Dogs with long bodies have narrow chests, so they tend to have a tendency to have breathing problems, heart murmur, arthritis in the spine, etc.. Or dogs with long legs tend to get arthritis or joint problems. These problems vary depending on they breed and can affect the life span iof a dog. Genetics of a dog affect life span. If the dog’s parents lived long lives their offspring usually live long lived. I have a dog that’s currently 18 years -old. Her parents are still living too.
