How often will the NRAC Formula be updated?
The formula will be run to produce Health Board target allocation shares every year. Certain elements of the formula are updated annually (e.g. population, age-sex cost weights, care programme weights). However, not all elements of the formula need to be updated every year (e.g. urban-rural categories of Health Boards, data and coefficients from the Morbidity and Life Circumstances (MLC) adjustment) some elements will not change a great deal from year to year and updating them on a rolling programme every three years is sufficient.
