How often to water new shrubs?

Set a hose at the base of the shrub so that it just slightly bubbles when you hold it upright five feet from the ground. Water the newly installed shrub (4′ – 6′) for three hours a day, three days a week, for three weeks for spring and fall plantings. Plantings between 04 July and 21 August may require more water. If at any time the foliage seems to be getting yellow or “less green”, stop watering, let the root ball dry out completely, wait three days and pick up the regimen where you left off.
