How often should I water an aloe plant?
The conditions (humidity, heat, sunlight) the plant lives in have a lot to do with in. Aloes are succulents (basically meaning that they store moisture for later use) and so, under duress, can survive extended periods without water. If you have the aloe in a pot with good drainage you probably can’t overwater it. Drainage is the key to most house plants; closed pots tend to collect water and lead to root rot. People also have a tendency to just ‘tease’ the surface until it’s wet thinking if it looks wet, it’s watered. While some houseplants will struggle for years on this type of schedule, it’s best to take your plants to the sink and water slowly until water streams out of the drain holes of the pot. And I haven’t come close to answering your question.!…Anyway, you can feel the leaves and get to know what they feel like when ‘full’. You want to maintain that feeling, so water when you notice a slight sponginess. I don’t recommend letting them get fully dehydrated.
