You don’t need to feed your Venus flytrap anything other than lots of sunlight and clean water. Venus flytraps are green, which means they contain chlorophyll and therefore can produce energy from photosynthesis. If you never feed your plant another insect, it will be fine. As far as watering goes, it really depends on the time of year. Basically you should never let the soil that your flytrap is planted in dry out. In the summer, this requires a lot of water. I water mine at least every other day. It’s best to use the tray method and just set the plant in a small saucer or tray and water it from the bottom by adding water to the tray. In the summer I usually keep at least a half inch of water in the tray. During the winter, they require much less water. Just keep the soil moist, not damp.
