How often should i change my break pads?
Brake wear is not figured by length of time (months)! Nor does miles actually become a definite factor! It depends more on your driving habits than anything else–( if brake system is operating like it should)! First of all you have to determine if it is the brake pads to begin with! A bad master cylinder might trigger light, proportioning valve could be stuck, even low brake fluid could trigger the light! And then you could have blown a hose or wheel cylinder– which in turn locks the proportioning valve! Normally this gives decreased braking ability, which is usually apparent to most people… Rear failure affects much less than front failure, as 60% of braking happens on front wheels! You can easily check brakepads by looking at edges where they meet disc! You may have to pull wheels off to look! If the material on pads is less than 1/4″, you are due for brake pads now, — they are closer to 3/8″ thick when new! Rears will last about 3-1 ratio because of most braking being done in f
