The Purpose Prize is given annually with funding provided by The Atlantic Philanthropies and The John Templeton Foundation. In 2011, five people will be awarded $100,000. Five $100,000 winners and five $50,000 winners were selected in 2009 and 2010. In previous years, The Prize was awarded to five $100,000 winners and 10 $10,000 winners.
