Causeway police helped rescue a man after his pickup trick plunged into Lake Pontchartrain early Monday morning. Causeway authorities reopened the nearly 30-mile long bridge shortly before 8 a.m.. At 7 a.m., a driver heading south into Metairie swerved in front of an 18-wheeler, getting clipped in the process. Robert Lambert, the General Manager of the Causewayy Commission said the driver told officials that he ‘blacked out.’ The truck blasted through the guard rail and into the lake, shutting down the bridge as emergency officials rushed to aid in saving the driver. “He lost control, struck one side of the bridge, went to the other side and ended up in front of an 18-wheeler which struck the pickup truck.
