How often does the queuing sever attempt to resend mail to the mail server that was previously offline?
In the first 20 minutes, the mail server attempts to send two times. Then it tries one more time in the next 40 minutes. After the first hour three more attempts are made in the next hour. If the receiving mail server fails to accept, it will only attempt to resend one time every eight hours. The maximum amount of time that mail will be spooled is five days.
