How often does the ProtxL Oil Filter have to be serviced?
There are three factors that determine ProtxL system oil filter element change. 1) The ProtxL By-Pass oil filter is rated for engine rated horse power and is usually serviced at the same interval that the oil was originally being changed. To safely confirm the optimum extended oil change, it is recommended to initially use progressive 250 hour (off highway) or 20,000 km’s (on highway) oil analysis results to monitor oil quality to find the new benchmark for extended oil drain period. 2) Another factor to extending oil drain intervals is that of oil quality, remembering that not all oils are formulated using the same blend composition (oils ain’t oils). e.g. engine oil performance specifications may be advertised to same API service category, however, base oil quality may differ dramatically. Using Group II, Group III, semi-synthetic or full synthetic base stocks over conventional Group 1, increases the longevity of oil in service to the superior oxidative thermal stability tendencies.
