How often does a total lunar eclipse correspond with the Harvest Moon in September?

0

The last total lunar eclipse of the Harvest Moon occurred on September 26, 1950. It was reported in Sky and Telescope, November 1950, page 11. The northwest states of the United States were, apparently, clouded out. The Akron Beacon Journal ran a headline saying “Precise Universe Stages Big Lunar Show Exactly as Billed” in an article written by Keith Spriggel. The next Harvest Moon eclipse will be September 28, 2015 at 2:47 Universal Time, so we folks in the United States will see it on September 27, 2015 at 20:47 EST allowing for the 5 hour time zone difference and Daylight Savings Time.
