How often does a female cat go into heat?
Females can have the first heat cycle as early as 4 months. Heat cycles are influenced by daylight. During the longer days of spring and summer cat’s heat cycles run from about every 2 weeks for 3-7 days per cycle. Eventually, the cat stays in a constant heat cycle until either bred or spayed. As days shorten during fall and winter, heat cycle’s frequency slacks off except in the case of indoor cats who can have continuous heat cycles all year long. Best to have your cat spayed. Having her spayed prevents her from developing deadly cancers and infections of the reproductive tract and keeps her from adding to the already overrun pet population.
