How often do horses need to be vaccinated?
It varies from horse to horse. Some need regular allergy shots or are required to have certain shots on a regular basis (like once a week or once a month or once every 6 weeks or something like that). If your horse has been badly injured or has an illness, some require that the horse is given shots to ease pain or to help heal the injury or illness. Lol, these are ‘just in case’ facts and you don’t hear of these scenarios very often! Most of the time, owners have their horses vaccinated once a year-maybe twice. Most of the time, horses are vaccinated during the spring and if the horse is being vaccinated twice a year than usually during the fall and spring. Horses are usually vaccinated in during the spring because that’s the start of a new riding season for most trail riders, 4-H becomes active with horses, shows start plus it’s the main foaling season and more things too! Some horses are vaccinated during the fall because it’s the end of ‘allergy season’ and it’s right before the win
