How often do cities replace snowplow blades?
Plow blades have hardened steel replaceable blades for scraping the pavement. They are adjustable for how much they extend below the plow itself and to compensate for wear. The plow blade can also be fitted with a hard rubber blade that acts like a squeegee on the pavement. The rubber blade also doesn’t get hooked up on manhole and sewer covers like a steel blade would. It doesn’t tear up the pavement like a steel blade would, either. They replace these every 1-3 yrs, depending on how much they are used.
