Once every 6 years. A president can only serve one term. In Mexico, there are 3 major parties, PRD, PRI, and PAN. The current President, President Vicente Fox, and President elect, Felipe Caldern, are from PAN. Caldern defeated the losing liberal PRD candidate, Andrs Manuel Lopez Obrador, from the PRD, by a margin of 0.5%, or less than 250,000 votes.
