How often are sessions?
Sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis. Having weekly sessions gives the client(s) and therapist enough time to address issues in sessions and to process them afterwards, complete homework assignments and build momentum together. However, clients sometimes meet on a bi-weekly schedule due to family, work or financial issues. This can be discussed between the client and therapist. Clients that come into therapy for regular sessions and reach their goals, may reduce the number of sessions to bi-weekly or less as part of the “weaning” period. This happens after the client has maintained the changes sought and moving towards the end of therapy. This gives the client time to test their new tools and ability to maintain these changes with less assistance from their therapist. These sessions are important to the therapy process and allow for a healthy transition.
