How often are Kangaroo Care sessions scheduled?
The staff of Piedmont’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit understand the importance of individualizing Kangaroo Care for each family and each infant. Typically, parents start with 30 minutes daily. As your baby grows stronger, you may be able to increase to two to three hours of Kangaroo Care each day. The NICU nurses will observe you and your baby to be sure that he/she is warm enough and not in distress.
