How noisy are canary birds?
A male canary’s song can be somewhat loud at times. Finches are much quieter than canaries. Most of them don’t sing nowhere near as well as canaries, with the exception of the European Goldfinch. I’d advise you to buy either zebra or society finches to start out. They are hardy birds and are excellent pets for those starting off with finches. Keep them in even numbers and have a cage that is longer than taller. Male zebra finches have the orange cheek patches, females lack the cheek patches. Male society finches sing, females make some sounds but don’t sing. More about finches, they enjoy flying in their cage, swinging on their swing, and singing. They also enjoy interacting with each other. They are colorful, cheerful birds, with a pleasant song. They won’t disturb anyone. They don’t enjoy interacting with people, so don’t plan on having a tame finch. They are shy birds that are nervous around people. They do make great pets and their song will help bring joy to your life.
