How much would someone charge to deliver my horse?
A few factors can determine the price of trailering a horse. First, prices generally change with the service that you will be employing. The price of gas can cause the charge to fluctuate dramatically. If the driver is picking up several horses on their line including yours, the price will probably be lower than if the drive has to go far off his line. The quality of the trailer (if it is air conditioned for example) can increase the price. If it is a long haul, you can have the trailer board your horse overnight in a sort of “road-side” barn. That will really jack up the price though. I haven’t had too many horses trailered by a service because it can be very expensive. On one trip, I had a horse taken from Florida to New York and the price was around $600. This was several years ago. I believe that it is usually $0.40/mi to $0.
