Probably better to get the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station and take a cab from there. It’s still going to cost you quite a bit, but less than a regular cab from Gatwick to New Cross, which is likely to cost between £60 and £90 by the time you’ve added a tip, depending on how fancy the car service is. Mind you, many London cab drivers are still not keen to go ‘sarf of the river’, especially at night. Whatever you do, don’t take an unlicensed cab at that time of night in London.
