How Much Wood Could an Art Student Craft?
By Sarah Ward, Staff Writer Surrounded by friends and family, the “wood students” served up free food, wine and hard wood to anyone willing to take a look at their work. A fun and lively opening seemed fit for the work that was being presented. The third annual wood show was held Friday, March 3 with about 50 people presenting their best work. “I worked on touching up everything before the show for about a month,” said senior Annie Raso. “Overall, it was work from two basic classes in the fall, the fall independent study class, and one project from the intermediate and basic classes this semester, plus incompletes from last spring.” Raso had two exceptional pieces, one of which she calls “her pod,” is a beautiful piece of curved wood and it holds dark, wooden balls. The piece was Raso’s first wood bend and though it was extremely ambitious, she managed to achieve a high level of craftsmanship. “I learned so much and it was such a huge accomplishment,” said Raso of her pod. “It took me
