How much will the REF reduce burden on the sector, compared to the RAE?
We are confident that after the initial transition to the new system, the burden will be substantially reduced. However, it is too early to make any detailed assessment of the reduction in burden, and we will establish this as we firm up the proposals. This is one reason why we plan a pilot bibliometric exercise next year.
