How Much Will Medicare Pay for AAC Devices?
Medicare regulations state that Medicare will pay 80% of the lesser of the following: • The actual charge for the AAC device; or • The fee schedule established for the AAC device. Medicare has created four “codes” or categories of AAC devices, and has created a fee schedule for each code. The formula for calculating the reasonable charge is exceedingly complex, and cannot easily be re-stated here.
