How much will implementation of the new plan cost the district?
With any new initiative, there are start-up costs. During the past school year, we have spent $775,000 on the Blue Ribbon Plan which included staff and parent training and community outreach. The costs for the upcoming school year will cover In-School Suspension staffing, as well as continued staff and parent training and community outreach. The final proposed cost is pending board approval, but we will use federal and state dollars through the Safe and Drug Free Schools Act, School Improvement funding, federal NCLB dollars and local funding.
