How much weight do you usually gain during pregnancy?
This of course varies from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy. The doctors set guidelines but I don’t know how well they are followed. The idea that you are eating for two is an old fashioned notion that leads to more weight gain than needed. However women do on average gain more weight than needed during pregnancy so some must still abide by that notion. For your average healthy women 20-25 lbs. is considered healthy. For those of larger stature 10-15 lbs. is considered better. “The baby accounts for about 7.5 pounds (more or less), and the amniotic fluid, placenta, and extra body fluids and blood in your body add up to another 8 to 12 pounds. Also, your uterus and breasts have gotten bigger, adding up to 4 to 6 pounds. Remember, it took nine months to put on the weight, and it can take just as long or longer for all of it to come off.
