How much weight did everyone gain in their 1st trimester?
It is perfectly fine. I lost almost 20 lbs with my third pregnancy before I gained an ounce. I was very sick with a bacterial infection of my intestines. I started gaining about my 5th month. Our son was 7 lbs when he was born and perfectly healthy. This time I lost 9 lbs during my first trimester and started gaining about 14 weeks. Nausea and loss of appetite make it hard to gain weight during your first trimester. Make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamin, eating the best you can and stay hydrated. Your baby will be fine. If your Dr is concerned they will tell you 🙂 Best Wishes!!!
It definitely happens sometimes. I assume you had some to a lot of morning sickness (whether or not you were throwing up a lot) which interfered with your eating? I think there is a lot of variation in how much people gain. According to the Mayo Clinic pregnancy book, total weight gain in the first trimester should only be 1-2 lbs. But I’ve read elsewhere that normal first trimester gain is 3-4 lbs. My mom lost several pounds in the first 3-4 months she was pregnant with me due to the morning sickness. But she rebounded and started gaining shortly after that. She ultimately gained less weight because of it, but I was just fine (and certainly not small – 9 lbs!). I am over 11 weeks now, and I haven’t gained yet. I’ve stayed in the same 2-lb. or so weight range so far since I found out I was PG. I’ve had a lot of nausea, food aversions, etc. but not as much throwing up. I feel like I’m about to start gaining a little, but by the time I get to 13 weeks, I doubt I will have gained more tha
