HOW MUCH TRAINING WILL I RECEIVE AS A FOSTER PARENT AT ACCESS FOR YOUTH?

All foster parents will receive 36 hours of Pre-Service Orientation training before a foster child may be placed in their home. Access for Youth will provide on-going training that builds upon skills learned during the pre-service training and in the course of working with our children. This system was designed to help foster parents understand the special needs of foster children and to learn methods of working with those needs. Parenting someone else’s child is very different from parenting your own children.
