How much training is involved for acupuncturists?
NCCAOM licensed acupuncturists receive over 3000 hours of training to become licensed. They must also pass a national examination to become NCCAOM certified. Some states require additional examinations, but it varies from state to state. Many other health professionals are able to receive 200-300 hours of training in acupuncture and tend to call it “medical acupuncture”. Beyond training and credentials, the best assurance is a referral from satisfied patients.
