How much to charge for Album Cover artwork?
I’ve been asked to provide artwork for an album cover, including variations on the image. It’s my first time, so I am hoping someone can give me some rough ballpark figures for what I should charge based on the following criteria: 1) I am selling global rights including merchandising 2) I am producing original work (as opposed to licensing existing work) The key question I don’t have an answer for yet is what the expected run for the album is. So if you don’t mind, can you give me a ballpark figure for: a) A single run of 10,000 or under b) A single run of 100,000 or under c) More than 100,000 I would also ask if anyone has experience charging a royalty in this sort of situation, and if so, what the ballpark percentage would be.
