How much time is required for study outside of class?
The rule-of-thumb is three hours of work outside of class for every hour in class. Therefore, if a student were taking two courses, each meeting three hours a week, their in-class time would be six hours, and out-of-class work would be eighteen hours. Students on this schedule commit to a total of twenty-four hours per week.
