Each transaction for a qualified visit is immediately applied towards the $100 in total dining transactions required to automatically receive a quarter (0.25) of a credit. Transactions expire 365 days after the date processed, so your accumulated dining balance will be reduced by that transaction amount if you have not yet reached the required $100 in total dining purchases.
