How much time can I devote to union matters during business hours?
Designated Union members and/or officers shall be granted reasonable time with pay during working hours to investigate and seek to settle grievances and to participate in hearings and meetings with the Administration or Labor Relations Board on contract negotiations and contract administration. Such time shall be with the approval of the appropriate supervisor involved, and such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. Meetings are held during lunchtime from 12:00 to 1:00 and refreshments are served. The best practice is to always inform your supervisor about any time you allocate for union activities.
